President Monson
How blessed we are to enjoy hearing from a prophet twice a year at conference! It was such an uplifting weekend. I have to admit that prior to this weekend, I was a little unsure about how I would feel. It was the first time that President Hinckley would not be speaking to us. I loved President Hinckley and honestly he is the only prophet I truly remember. President Hunter was the prophet for such a short time and then before him President Benson was quite ill for much of the time I remember him. I came to love and revere President Hinckley in a way I hadn't ever experienced in my life before. The few times in my life, when I was able to be in the same room as him, I was overwhelmed with such love for him. When he died and President Monson was called to fill that position, I knew I would always honor President Monson as our new prophet and always follow his counsel. But a bit of me felt that I would never love another prophet the way I loved President Hinckley. And yet as President Monson gave his concluding remarks today I was overwhelmed with a feeling of love and the same devotion to follow him and do all I could to head his counsel. As tears fell, I was amazed at the power of my emotions for our new prophet. Although President Hinckley and President Monson are different men my love for them and my desire to follow them is the same. My powerful emotions come from the fact that my spirit recognizes that they are servants our Savior, Jesus Christ, called at their particular time to be His mouthpiece and prophet to His people. I am filled with gratitude that I am to live at a time when prophets and apostles are able to lead and guide our lives. How grateful I am for President Monson, his life has certainly prepared him for the calling he now has. I love him and am anxious to follow his counsel.

Ditto. Well put Megan.
Hi Megan! I just found you and will come back to read up more when it's not so late! Yeah, I love blogging!
(It's Laurie Crossman in case you can't figure it out!)
We're in Carson City. It's nice to be near family, and Dan's job has very family friendly hours. Yippee.
Do you still keep in touch with Heidi Cannon?
I added you to my links since I plan on coming back to visit more. :)
Beautifully said. I had similar feelings during conference. We were delayed a week, so General Conference ended yesterday for us.
I was so touched by President Monson's love and words. I was overwhelmed by the new mantle he wears.
Megan, I found your blog and wrote a comment down under the blog about your parents leaving on their missions. Love seeing where you are at in your life. You sure look happy. Julie (Wheeler) Boyer
